The historic John R. The owners hope whoever buys the 18-bedroom, seven-fireplace mansion will preserve it as the University District landmark.

Real estate in the area is hot. Homes near campus are selling for $300,000 and up, with the majority of buyers being millennials who want to live within walking distance of the college campus. The Tooles bought the house in 1912, and it was designated a historic landmark in 1979. It now sits on six city lots with 18 bedrooms and seven fireplaces.

There’s no doubt the house needs a lot of love to bring it back to its original glory, but the current homeowners are hoping that whoever purchases the property will keep the history of the home alive. “We want to see it maintained as a historic property,” said Rosemary Harrison, an agent with Windermere Real Estate who works with the home’s sellers.

The neighborhood is a walkable one with few transit options. There are three shopping centers within 1.3 miles of the house, and five parks are located within 5.9 miles. Those include the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes, Children’s Museum of Cleveland and Cleveland Botanical Garden. The Buckeye-Shaker community is approximately six miles from downtown and just over three miles from Case Western Reserve. It is about 86.3 miles from the Mansfield Lahm Air Guard Station and is conveniently located to other military bases, including Camp Perry.

The homes in Kappa Nova are built by renowned builders and offer quality living spaces. The houses are equipped with amenities like Gymnasium, Power Backup and Fire Sprinklers.
